The Progression System Empty
PostSubject: The Progression System   The Progression System EmptyThu Dec 22, 2022 2:57 pm

For the longest time this has been a very slow progression system, too slow for people's liking. I have looked at other places that use this FASERIP system and see others have had the same concern and have added in mini-levels in between certain areas to allow for a smoother transition. An example is in the picture below:

The Progression System Alternate_Universal-Table

However, keep in mind we use a very different strength system so ignore those weight limits on the right Very Happy

So the question i'm asking is.. how should we progress as an RP?

1. Level the stat limits the same
2. Increase everything by 1 level
3. Incorporate the system in the picture
4. Include MORE levels in between ( at 15 and 25 as well to keep the increase consistent )
5. Other, please state in the comments.

This poll will remain open until the end of the year.

So the Other that I picked was for, perhaps, changing the 'standard' from Typical(6) to Fair(10) and changing Good to (15) IF we decide to even at scores for 15 and 25. If someone isn't at least Fair or Good in something, like Strength, then in most cases they'd have to crit just to deal damage through armor, and you'd have only about a 1/2 chance of even hitting a Green on a roll.

Also, if we added more scores for 15 and 25, then it would leave less reason for some characters to start with attributes like Incredible or Amazing, because the 'standard' for what defines "Fair" and "Good" would be higher than what it is right now.

I feel that some stats can be limiting like Poor and typical, but under the current rules they do make sense for 'normal'. However, as Tiggs states, they are incredibly hard to do any damage with, and it makes people want to create super high powered characters to get around this.

Also I think it would be really good to have some clearer methods of improving stats, like we have for improving magic for example. You learn level 1, wait a week then next spell, etc etc.

Yeah there has never really been any strongly defined rules just because of the fact with how limiting the system was it's not something you'd want people doing often. If this gets changed then obviously the system would allow for more

If this gets decided on, I had planed for 15 VeryGood ( or VG for short ) for the main fact of if we change good from 10 to 15, then every sheet in the rp would have to be adjusted because hp / sp / mp would be wrong. Haven't figured out 25 yet though.

PostSubject: Re: The Progression System   The Progression System EmptyWed Jan 04, 2023 1:06 pm

Proposed changes to fit the new levels in are below. On the left side is the current system. On the right is the changed system:

Under the old system, for every rank up, the ranks moved all the colors by 5:
66, 61, 56, 61, 46, 41, 36, 31, 26, etc

under the new system, the ranks would move every 3:
60, 57, 54, 51, 48, 45, 42, 39, 36, etc

here is a handy graph done professionally in MS Paint to show you the changes:
