Personality: A scientist at heart and a peacemaker by nature, Shion is an inquisitive woman and seeks answers to the many questions in her mind.  She despises it when people around her lash out violently or act childishly.
Weakness: Shion has had a considerable amount of trauma in her past, her parents dying when she was young, and having believed to have lost Kevin Winnicot as well.  She sometimes simply hides herself in her work to a large degree, though she has been able to live with it a little easier.

Biography:

Shion existed eons ago in Lost Jerusalem as the maiden of Mary Magdalene, though for her current iteration she was born on Miltia.  When her mother Aoi was confined to Labyrinthos with an illness linked to U-DO, she befriended a Realian named Febronia, who served as her nanny as Shion's father Suou was engrossed in his work.  She met a 14-year-old Kevin Winnicot there while she was planting flowers.  Kevin had approached her on Wilhelm's orders, and was unkind to her, though Shion insisted he help her and eventually got her way.

During the Miltian Conflict, a group of combat Realians attacked Febronia, and Shion, 8 years old, bore witness to her death.  She eventually had to hide underneath a hospital bed as berserk Realians killed her parents.  Being an Animus resonant, her horror brought her into a trance-like state that provoked the arrival of the Gnosis, spectral monsters that plagued the galaxy thereafter, before her brother Jin, thirteen years her senior, arrived to her rescue.

She lived on Second Miltia with her brother for a time, eventually forgetting many events that happened in the conflict, and repressing the details to cope with her trauma.  She refused to visit her parents' graves since they weren't even buried in them.  Eventually, she applied to join Vector INdustries' 3rd R&D division, but after reading her esay, Kevin Winnicot pulled some strings and got her into the 1st R&D division at age 18.  Her primary interest was the research of Relaians, and eventually became involved in the ant-Gnosis project known as KOS-MOS.

She eventually fell in love with Kevin, and they got engaged.  The U-TIC organization, however, managed to prematurely activate the KOS-MOS archetype, and it went on a murderous rampage, killing Kevin as he tried to protect Shion.  Shion eventually became chief engineer of the project, Allen Ridgeley became her assistant, and Kevin would become Wilhelm's Red Testament.

Shion was stationed on the Woglinde as she sought to complete the KOS-MOS project, but testing hadn't been completed before the Gnosis attacked.  As Shion was grabbed by a Gnosis, KOS-MOS self-activated and rescued her, though KOS-MOS also killed Lieutenant Virgil as he defended Shion, as he impeded her line of fire.  KOS-MOS, in the aftermath, stood on the Elsa's hull, demanding entrance and threatening to shatter the window.  She insisted that Shion's pod be rescued by a Federation ship until Shion threatens suicide, demanding that KOS-MOS take her with her.  KOS-MOS eventually acquiesced.

Cherenkov was one of those onboard the Elsa, and when he was turned into a Gnosis on the Gnosis Cathedral Ship, she was overwhelmed with sadness, fearing the same would become of those touched by the Gnosis, and potentially she herself, as well as realizing he was effectively a bioweapon harshly mistreated after the wars he had experienced.

Shion and the others eventually met up with the Kukai Foundation, who were framed for the Woglinde's destruction by U-TIC.  They chose to use KOS-MOS' black box as evidence to the contrary, since it had a AAA security system, making it impossible to tamper with.  They accessed it through KOS-MOS' subconcious, and the Encephalon dive system, though this also brought some of Shion's past experiences to the surface, much to her surprise, as the trauma she andJunior bore eventually birthed a Gonsis named Tiamat, soon defeated.

U-TIC then dispatched Junior's brother Albedo to steal the realian MOMO to retrieve the Y-Data, using the Song of Nephilim to summon the Gnosis hoards.  MOMO was kidnapped as the others protected the foundation from the Gnosis, as Albedo then summoned Proto Merkabah to fire upon the Federation fleet and prepared to attack Second Miltia.  Albedo awaited the party in the reactor's core, turning the core into a Gnosis to buy time to escape and setting Proto Merkabah on a collision course with Second Miltia.  KOS-MOS volunteered to stay behind and activate the station's self-destruct sequences as the others escaped, convincingShion that she could run faster than any of them.  KOS-MOS narrowly escaped, blasting through a wall to rejoin the Elsa as she protected the ship from the immense blast.

KOS-MOS was then turned over to Vector's 2nd Division for a new battle frame installation and her Tertiary Weapons System, and participated in an Encephalon dive to retrieve the Y-Data from MOMO's subconcious for the Federation.  After Albedo reappeared and stole the Y-Data, she was stationed on the Dammerung, and received a request in a dream from Febronia to save her sisters on Old Miltia.  With Allen's help, she stole the ES Dinah and escaped the Dammerung, rejoining the Elsa.  She was attacked by the ES Dan, piloted by Voyager, and KOS-MOS soon returned to Shion's side, showing the true power of the Dinah in coming to her rescue.

Febronia's sisters, Cecily and Cathe, awaited in Labyrinthos, and at Febronia's request, she allowed KOS-MOS to kill them as they were then simply part of the Zohar's control system.  Emotionally distraught by their deaths, her brother Jin tries to comfort her, though she initially reacts with rage and anger.  After the party enters the Omega System and the Testaments destroy Patriarch Sergius, Junior dives into the U-Do spacetime anomaly and finishes off his brother Albedo.

Shion eventually learns of her father's involvement in the Gnosis Terrorism, and left Vector to join Scientia with Doctus, Miyuki, and Canaan.  Shion was allowed to keep the ES Dinah, and began to research the true purpose of the Unus Mundus Network.

She had lived and relaxed on Pedea Island to help cope with her mental trauma when she got a notification from Allen that the KOS-MOS project was being cancelled.  She rescued KOS-MOS after she was unceremoniously discarded, and reactivated her, before investigating Rennes-le-Chateau at the behest of Juli Mizrahi.  She finds Lieutenant Virgil still alive as the Blue Testament, and in a tomb, Roth Mantel and T-elos, a KOS-MOS-like android, appear and attempt to destroy KOS-MOS.

Shoin dove into KOS-MOS' subconcious in an effort to save her, and within, investigated Labyrinthos to find KOS-MOS' original blueprint and copy it.  When the reactivation failed, Voyager reappeared and attempted to kidnap KOS-MOS and take Shion's necklace when KOS-MOS reactivated and everyone fended off Voyager.

Shion eventually went back to Labyrithos in an effort to change history, as the party began to steal the ES craft.  When she heard her mother's name called on the communication systems, she started to look for her, and eventually found the Red Testament.  Discovering he was actually Kevin, Shion was in shock and eventually captured by U-TIC soldiers.  Held hostage and questioned by Margulis, Kevin, and her father Suou, her father soon figured out what was happening, and implored her to save the younger Shion, secretly aiding her.  The Miltian Conflict had begun by then, as Shion and Febronia protected the younger Shion, and Virgil, who was also in Febronia's care at the time.  Virgil fought of the berserk Realians as best he could, and soon the Blue Testament appeared.  Febronia soon appeared as well, and dissuaded Virgil into abandoning his duties as a Testament.

When Shoin discovered it was her despaired cries that brought the Gnosis, she panicked, and in her panic, she called Abel's Ark into the galaxy.  She hadn't traveled to the past; all of this was truly in her subconcious.  Plagued by depression and confusion, she soldiered on and defended the Durandal from the Salvator Faction before venturing to Abel's Ark and confronting Dmitri Yuriev.

Michtam was where Shion learned of who she really was.  Kevin tortured Allen before her eyes even after she joined him, and her worry that Kevin would go to such lengths convinced her to leave Kevin for good as KOS-MOS saved Allen.  When Wilhelm made Kevin stand down, Wilhelm the tortured Shion when she refused to activate the eternal circle, Zarathustra, with her pendant.  Wilhelm tortured Shion and Kevin, and then made KOS-MOS take the key from Shion, who, at the last moment, shattered the key in her hand.  Kevin impaled Wilhelm from behind, and Shion & the others destroyed the out-of-control Zarathustra.  Shion and the others escaped on the Elsa, beginning a journey to find humanity's home of Lost Jerusalem.
