proposal: Flight load limit guidelines

I am very often asked what is the rule for how much someone can fly with or swim with before they would start to sink. I generally give some random guess based on the character's information but I believe it's about time for more serious guidelines. As such I have written up a proposed system based on flight speed.

Typically the higher your top flying speed, you're less built to be carrying a heavy load. There are exceptions, which is why this is a guideline, and people can give reasons when a sheet is submitted on why they believe the limits should be higher.

The reason this is being put into General Discussion is to get people's ideas on how they feel about this system and wht changes they feel should be made.


Basic Guidelines:


Incredible
- max load at full speed 33% to 50% of character weight
- Max load typically between 100% and 125% of character weight at no less then a -2 penalty

Remarkable
- max load at full speed 50 to 66% of character weight
- Max load typically between 100% and 150% of character weight at no less then a -2 penalty

Excellent
- max load at full speed 50 to 75% of character weight
- Max load typically between 125% and 200% of character weight at no less then a -2 penalty

Good
- Max load at full 75% to 100% of character weight
- Max load typically between 175% and 225% of character weight at no less then a -2 penalty

Typical
- Max load at full speed 100% to 125% of character weight
- Max load typically between 200% and 250% of character weight at no less then a -1 penalty


People can of course set these even lower, and have limits at lower speeds. Examples:

1. 200 Lb flier at Incredible flying speed can fly with that up to 100 Lb, Excellent up to 200 Lb

2. 200 Lb flier at Incredible can fly up to 50 Lb , Remarkable up to 100, Excellent up to 175, Good otherwise



Special Modifiers:

Armor - Leather has no penalty, but a 5% load penalty for each additional level beyond that, with Pate instead having an additional 10% penalty

Riding on one's back - While easiest on the arms, it hinders wind movements. As such Load limit is reduced between 10% and 20%

Proposed skills:
Aerial Expert - +10% to values
Aerial Master - +10% to values ( for combined bonuis of 20% )



A'Reah
- Values -20% from final value ( So at incredible it is 50% and then -20% from that )
- Values improved to -10% with medium armor training ( when not in armor )
- Values improved to +10% with heavy armor training ( when not in armor )
