Description: This is an innate ability Rieka has, where she can talk to dogs and on occasions, wolves. She can't speak to other animals with this, only dogs due to her connection with them. Wolves are a little harder due to the way they think. As such, dogs consider her one of the pack. She can roll this skill to talk to them and calm them down if the dog is aggressive, or nervous.



Bio:

Rieka was given away as a baby due to the fact she was not 'normal'. Her mother died bringing her into the world and her father didn't want to know. As soon as he could, he gave the newborn pup to the nearest orphanage and left the island. He returned a couple of years later and tried to claim her, but was sadly killed by villains who had their eyes on his territories off-world. She drifted in and out of various foster homes, usually being sent back because she didn't fit. The most notable time was the closest she'd come to being adopted. She was around 8 years old, and the home she was in wasn't great. The man was in significant debt and would get Rieka to use her unique talents to steal things for him. The woman became pregnant and was excited for Rie to have a brother or sister. She didn't know about the money problems, and was working out a way to adopt Rieka. The man was worried about money and sent Rie and her friend out to steal. As they were at the shop stealing, it was invaded by some others who wanted to steal. Rieka's friend was scared she'd be punished for going home empty handed, and tried to fight the older boys. Somehow in the fight, she was stabbed, ending up dying. Rieka fled but was caught by the police. The woman came to 'fetch' Rieka but told her that she was too dangerous, that she would be a danger to the new baby they had. She was sent back to the orphanage.

Rie was heartbroken, but decided then that she wouldn't rely on the adults anymore. She was then fostered by some others who always sent her back. Until the cop. Rieka was sent to the foster home of a FIPD officer, as it was thought his guidance would make her straighten up. However, he was involved in illegal dog fighting, and upon realizing Rie had the gift of talking to dogs, utilized this to garner profits in the fighting ring. When he realized she changed into a dog, then he decided to send her into the ring as well. Eventually the IDF found out dogs were going missing, and found Rie. With the help of the FIPD, notably Kirru, the cop was sent to jail for his crimes. Rieka had to go back to the orphanage, and when she was sent to another foster home, she decided to slip away into the night. Hiding on the streets of Dixon, she's been gathering information, while hiding from those who want to hurt her or use her gifts. Until Kirru found her, and gave her a home. A real home. Not a foster, but an adoption. By someone who finally understands.
