Biography: [Warning. If you plan to play Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, there are spoilers ahead.]
Over the course of time, an unending battle raged across the ages, between the prince of darkness, Count Dracula, and the Belmont clan, a family of legendary hunters that possessed the famed whip, the Vampire Killer. Over the course of time their battles raged, but in the far-flung future, the Belmonts had begun to fade into history, and the soul of Dracula, at times stirred by the darkness dwelling in the hearts of men, was sealed in his infernal coffin. As the ominous shadow of Dracula loomed, many organizations and groups had begun to surface, desperately trying to find a way to vanquish the lord of vampires, fearing what he might wreak upon a world without the light of the Belmont clan. In the mad scramble to find a feasible way to counter him, all efforts appeared utterly fruitless...till one day.
The Order of Ecclesia was one such organization that arose from these efforts, studying meticulously the art of glyph wielding. In their number, Shanoa was the only one capable of wielding their power, and one day they had discovered a trio of glyphs that contained Dracula's very might. It was known as Dominus, the very embodiment of Dracula's power, a dark magic that brought death to the user. The order's leader, Master Barlowe, had finally acquired the three Dominus glyphs, but his subordinate Albus had been promised the chance to wield them once he had found a way to use the power of glyphs himself. Barlowe, sending him on a long errand, instead requested Shanoa's presence to use Dominus' power upon Dracula's coffin, but Albus abruptly returned. Enraged as Shanoa began to absorb the glyphs into her back, Albus interrupted the incomplete ritual, stealing the books holding the glyphs. All the while, the incomplete ritual had robbed Shanoa of all memory.
Led on a veritable goose chase by Albus, he willingly gave up one of the Dominus glyphs to watch how she absorbed their power, so that he could wield it himself. Over time Albus grew possessed by their power, and when they had finally confronted one another, Shanoa bested him and reclaimed Dominus, only to feel Albus' presence within it, whom explained to her then and there its true purpose, as she promised not to use Dominus' power. Shanoa confronted Barlowe, who then revealed the true purpose of Dominus: to break the infernal seal and return Count Dracula to the world of the living. Barlowe then sacrificed himself instead, reviving the count nonetheless, leaving Shanoa as the order's last standing member, bereft of all but her new mission, to slay the prince of darkness herself.
As their battle raged in the highest point of his castle, Shanoa had no other recourse. She unleashed Dominus' power, banishing Dracula away, and the soul of Albus that dwelled in Dominus paid the price of death in Shanoa's place. In his final moments they made their peace, and Shanoa left the castle as it crumbled, retreating to the dark of night. There she would erase all record of the Order of Ecclesia, and fade into anonymity.
