Though he bears the forthright focus that befits his place in the world, Strato gladly indulges in a decent conversation now and again.

Description: Allows the caster to sense all living beings in the nearby area. At first circle this is about a block within a city, or a mile if within an area strong of nature. At level three this spell has no MP cost and can sense life up to three blocks away, or an entire forest if within one.

Communication with Animals
Cost: 5MP
Uses: Reasoning/Psyche ( whichever is higher )
Description: Allows you to speak to forest creatures such as deer, foxes, wolves and more for one hour. Once you learn your first fourth circle spell, cost becomes none and a roll is only required when something is resisting it.

Whisper In the Woods
Cost: 2MP
Uses: None
Description: Allows the caster to send a verbal message to a person or area in the same forest as them. At circle three this is any forest on the same world. At circle six, this is any forest on the same plane. ( Limbo and Hell, for example, would not be reachable from Fantasy Island )



Biography: Ever having been one to take up the sword at a young age to the behest of his parents, Strato's was a past of tension between he and the rest of his family. As a young child he often found himself in fits of competition, fueled by a staunch sense of morality instilled by his hard-lining parents, who would have tried hard to see to it that he never had to lift a sword for the sake of carrying on the family name. And indeed those with a talent for fighting often had the occassional reckless act overlooked, all for the sake of having another able-bodied sword-arm.

As such, Strato had undertaken the Samurai's path from a young age, in spite of the discouragement of his parents, and almost took to the path in secret, often leaving his lessons and heading to the woods and mountains to receive his tutoring. When he had turned seventeen, the day of his recruitment was nigh...and when his parents had found out, they had almost completely lost it. As his father nearly raised a hand to strike him, Strato immediately began to gather his things and would simply leave. Driven by the belief that there were times a good sword-arm was needed to defend what was right and just, Strato had left for the barracks to complete his training.

Tireless efforts created an alchemy within him, having worked very hard to earn the right to become a samurai. Trials of blood and steel awaited at every corner, and Strato answered the call, eventually being recruited by the Tokugawa clan. It was one in which he tried very hard to fight with honor, and in his tenure, he had seen his share of reliable and misgiving comrades. Tadakatsu Honda was among his most admired peers, a man of dauntless might who never seemed to accept defeat...another, the 'devil' Shibata of the Oda clan, a veritable one-man wall who preserved the rear guard with unmatched fervor. However, Strato never truly accepted a 'mentor' of sorts, and simply soaked in what he could of their ways, developing his own sense of honor and purpose.

The era he lived in, however, was hardly one that smiled upon acts of anything neither dubious nor treacherous. Having become a scout of sorts, one day on patrol he had bore witness to the unmistakable crimson blaze of a raging inferno...and in an unmistakably familiar location. Upon horseback had he bore witness to the razing of his own home, and of a raiding platoon of troops laying siege and slaughtering innocents. With rage burning in his heart as hellfire bursting from the earth, a vengeful gleam in his eyes as he bore witness to this atrocity, he charged headlong into the fray and struck down two foes with straight, true arrow-shots. However, soon an officer of superior skill had engaged Strato in combat and caught up to him in his futile attempt at escape. Facing his foe, Strato was inevitably captured, left to seethe and mourn in the cold embrace of an iron-barred cell. Courage burned brighter still, though an air of defiance had seized him in the face of this unknown enemy.

One day, however, he had managed an escape from his prison...and from thre he began a life of wandering, eventually chancing upon the city of Candoria, where he dwelled till a heartless attack claimed the city. He was aided by a fellow named Camael, who brought him to Fantasy Island.
