Biography:
Joseon (pronounced Joh-son) is a kingdom on the world of Beletseri that is basically modern-day South Korea with magic, and has been ruled by the (extremely traditional) Kim Dynasty for the last 1600 years. The last king and queen, Tae-soo and Do-Kyung, had two children, daughter Eun Ji and son Sonyeol. Eun Ji was quite rebellious growing up, she hated how traditional her family was and she would do whatever she could to get out of it, taking taekwondo classes, sneaking out to parties or concerts, whatever. When she was fifteen, she promised her parents she’d take traditional dance classes if she could finish her taekwondo studies, which they immediately agreed to.
When she was twenty-two and Sonyeol was twenty, the king and queen went on a trip, only to disappear three days before they were to return, throwing the kingdom into turmoil. As the eldest, Eun Ji was supposed to rule, but some of the royal advisers were against a woman taking the throne, especially one as rebellious as she was. After a long talk with Sonyeol, it was agreed that she’d let him become king, on the condition she went into voluntary exile so a civil war (hopefully) wouldn’t brew between their supporters, which was the last thing either of them wanted. So, after making him promise to come visit her wherever she ended up for Lunar New Year and her birthday, she packed up her things and left.
